Sign up for one of the biggest runs on the calendar. This hilly half marathon comes complete with a great big northern welcome. Head to the Angel of the North and feel the love.
The Great North Run
Fancy a trip to the seaside? Join more than 50,000 runners pounding the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields. Then paddle in the sea to celebrate completing the truly Great North Run.
It's the biggest half marathon in the world and, quite simply, one of the most fun days you can spend in trainers.
Your entry includes extremely supportive cheering from the famously lovely folk of Tyneside, a stream of celebrity running pals and the promise of some genuine northern hospitality at the finish line.

Quick fact: If this is to be your first half marathon, congratulations. You've picked the perfect place for it. Newcastle is home to many great firsts: the first dog show in the world (1859); the first beauty contest in Britain (1905) and the first reinforced concrete buildings, built by William Boutland Wilkinson.
Useful tip: No amount of money spent on expensive gadgets or hi-tec equipment can substitute for minutes, hours, days and weeks of actual legwork. Don't believe me? Watch Rocky IV.
