Great Scottish Run & Junior Run 2008
Whether you're a seasoned pro, a keen first timer, or a youngster ready to take on the running world, the lovely people of Glasgow have a fantastic event for you.
One for all and all for one
Aren't the Scots just lovely? First they invite you to pull on your running shorts and charge around Glasgow with more than 17,000 lycra-loving mates. Then they offer you three different ways of doing it.
The Great Scottish Run is actually a 10km race, a half marathon and a junior run all in one big warm weekend of exhaustion – sorry, I mean fun. The grown-up 10km option includes a send-off in George Square, followed by a run over the popular Kingston Bridge to a triumphant finish at Glasgow Green.
The Junior Run takes place the day before and is a 3km dash for 9-17 year olds. It's a little further than the sofa to the fridge and back, but totally manageable.

Quick fact: The architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh famously hailed from Glasgow, but did you know that Charles Mackintosh was also born here: inventor of the waterproof coat. So why do they now call them kagools...?
Useful tip: Apparently, 'following a good line' means running behind someone who’s keeping a good pace.
