Daley Training
Right then, by now you've probably found the challenge of your dreams and you're likely to be fantasising about hot climates or cheering crowds. Well, not that I want to burst your bubble or anything, but you've got a lot of training to do before that glorious moment.
Don't worry though, below are a few tips that can help make your training more effective - and fun (You knows it!).
Also if you've got some advice of your own, you can share it with your fellow believers by emailing Barnardo's event's team, who will happily upload it for everyone to read.
Together we'll be ready to take on the world - and win. Hurrah!
Dash abouts and junior runs
For dad
Lose the TV remote and stop driving everywhere!
Yep, training could be as simple as that. Leave the car keys behind for short journeys and get up to switch the TV over instead of flicking. Every little helps, so you might also like to try hoovering or taking out the washing. These are both great ways of getting in some extra exercise - and getting in your loved one's good books.
For the new running generation
Put the computer console down for a night or two
Yes, shooting zombies is fun. But if we got attacked by real ones, would you be able to run for safety? Probably not if you've been staring at a screen for days on end. So you need to get out and run about. Just in case.
Think on...
On a more serious note...
If you want to use an event like this as a springboard to improve your general fitness, why not join a local gym? Then, add a healthy, balanced diet and drinking plenty of water into the equation and pretty soon you'll notice a difference in the way you feel. You might even want to step up and attempt some more difficult challenges for Barnardo's.
Disclaimer:
If you are concerned about your health you should talk to a doctor before starting to exercise. Do not exercise if you have any physical problems that might influence your ability to become more active. Stop exercising and call your doctor if you feel dizzy, nauseous, short of breath, or if you feel pain in your chest.
